For those of you who are following the Gas Lease Craze on your old stomping grounds, this map may help you visualize where the leases are.  The overlay is courtesy of Otsego County Conservation Association www.occainfo.org .

You must have Google Earth installed on your computer.
Google Earth is a free (large) download. If you have never used Google Earth then you really don't know what you are missing!

This overlay will really open your eyes. I created this overlay using Google earth and saved it as a kml file, when you click on it, it will open Google Earth (assuming you have it installed on your computer), and then it will put the overlay on top.

While the property lines get a bit fuzzy as you zoom in, the tree lines and roads can help give you a fairly good idea of where the lease property lines are.  This is a great way to see  where the leased land is located in respect to roads, lakes and identifiable landmarks. If you see a little yellow or red or what ever color on your property, do not be alarmed! I did the best I could with the map provided- it took me a while to get the overlay where it is now.

Please note that there is a color coded legend telling you what each of the colors mean. Again, the lines get blurry, but if you are a quick learner, you will probably be able to follow the tree lines in the fields to figure out where the propety line ends.

When you click on the below link,  a box will open asking if you want to open the file from our website. Click on Run.
