ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME NOMINATIONS
The Oneonta High School Alumni Association is proud to announce its sponsorship for, and inauguration of, an Athletic Hall of Fame.
The Oneonta High School Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Committee has received 42 nominations for induction in their first year, beginning in 2007. The Selection Committee will review nominations each year starting in December and ending after the deadline for consideration. The deadline for consideration for the years class will be January 31, of that year . Nominations received after that date will be considered for induction in future years.
A plaque for each inductee will be placed on the wall in the high school near the entrance to the school adjacent to the Athletic Directors office.
The four categories of individuals eligible for induction are:
1. ) Student-Athlete
Those individuals who have demonstrated superior athletic performance and represented Oneonta High School and the Athletic Department in an outstanding manner both as a student and as an athlete. To be eligible, a student athlete must be a graduate of Oneonta High School and becomes eligible five years after graduation.
2.) Athletic Department Staff
Athletic Department individuals must have served a minimum of five years at Oneonta High School. They must have made a significant contribution to the Athletic Program and be worthy citizens who have been positive role models in their professional and personal life.
3.) Athletics Program Patron / Supporter
a.) Individual must have made significant contributions to the enhancement of the Athletic Program at Oneonta High School over a period of time.
b.) Individuals who have distinguished themselves in the field of athletics subsequent to their graduation from the High School and who have brought great distinction to the High School because of their accomplishments.
4.) Teams of Distinction
Teams that have attained a specific level of success in their respective league, or in sectional, state, or national competition.
